Jim Smith grew up in the church, the son of a minister–father and musician–mother. The church is where he nurtured passion for music, grew in faith, and found direction. Jim earned his B.S. in Music from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri (1988) and a Master of Divinity from Memphis Theological Seminary in Memphis, Tennessee (1992). Over the years Jim’s musical leadership has included church choirs, community choruses, children’s choirs, and church praise bands.
Jim has often said, “I am blessed to be a part of Trinity’s long and storied history of Music and Fine Arts Ministry. Many have given of their time, talents, and heart to glorify God.”
Following fifteen years of employment as a hospice chaplain, Jim is currently employed as a bus driver for Paducah City Schools. In addition to work and church, Jim enjoys playing bass trombone in the Paducah Jazz Patrol and singing for special events.
Jim has been married to Paducah native Nancy Allen Smith since April 2008. Jim and Nancy are proud of their daughter and son-in-law, Savannah and Sam, and their first grandchild, Mark Jordan.
